**About Us:** Steel Dynamics Inc. is a leading manufacturer of steel products, seeking a dedicated Assistant Engineer to support our engineering department in ensuring sound engineering design of products through all stages of development.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Design steel joists, joist girders, and steel decking in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Create roof/floor designs for various projects, including retail buildings, schools, and warehouses.
  • Develop structural steel and connections according to applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide engineering guidance to detailing, design, sales, and production departments.
  • Interpret contract documents and collaborate with architects, engineers, fabricators, and other stakeholders on product design requirements.
  • Become familiar with industry codes and specifications, including AISC, AISI, SJI, and SDI.
  • Complete any other necessary duties as assigned by management.

**Qualifications:**

  • Must have a degree in Civil Engineering, preferably with an emphasis in structures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Hold an EIT certification and be prepared to pursue PE licensure in the future.
  • Prior experience in structural and/or joist design is preferred.
  • Knowledge of interpreting structural drawings and contract documents is advantageous.
