Department Overview:
The Pediatric Gastroenterology Department at Duke Children's Hospital is committed to delivering outstanding care to our patients, ensuring a superior patient experience. This role involves providing triage support for pediatric patients in collaboration with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide triage support and resolve patient inquiries effectively.
- Gather relevant information and coordinate follow-up with healthcare providers to develop and communicate care plans to patients.
- Document communications in the electronic health record and manage patient messages as necessary.
- Assist with medication refills, referral management, and completion of necessary forms.
- Coordinate diagnostic testing and outpatient appointments.
- Educate patients and families about their care plans, procedures, and therapies.
- Delegate tasks and oversee the activities of unlicensed care providers.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, typically following a standard Monday to Friday schedule.

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Nursing).
- A minimum of twelve months of relevant clinical experience is required.
- Current North Carolina RN licensure or compact RN licensure is mandatory.
- BLS Certification is required.
Desired Skills:
- At least two years of nursing experience, with one year in pediatrics preferred.
- Experience in telephone triage or managed care coordination.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in software navigation.
