Job Description

**Network Engineer (Starshield)**

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible in space exploration and development. As a Network Engineer on our Starshield team, you'll play a critical role in designing and deploying secure, reliable, and high-performance networks to support our national security missions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement network architectures to support critical national security missions
  • Manage and expand network interconnections, co-location sites, and points of presence (POPs)
  • Improve network performance and reliability through capacity planning, failure detection, and remediation
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and network engineers to improve network design and security
  • Assist in updating system configuration and firmware, and build automation for network devices
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of professional or internship experience in networking, deploying enterprise network solutions or cloud and web-scale networks
  • Professional Layer-1 experience (e.g., transport, DWDM, optical fiber, circuit troubleshooting, activations)
  • Hands-on experience with hardware deployment at datacenters and interacting with datacenters
  • Experience bringing up switches, routers, firewalls, and servers
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Master's degree in a technical or engineering discipline
  • Experience with physical troubleshooting of fiber and circuits
  • Deep understanding of service provider networks, including connectivity, routing, switching, and internet services
  • Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or other industry certification
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance
  • Willingness to travel domestically and globally, and work extended hours and weekends as needed
