Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all terminal maintenance activities, ensuring the proper and safe operation of assets and equipment. This role involves managing a team of maintenance crew members, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining compliance with corporate goals and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage maintenance programs and activities to ensure efficient and effective operation of assets and equipment.
  • Supervise and develop maintenance crew members, maintaining appropriate crew levels and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Coordinate critical maintenance activities with Engineering and Operations departments.
  • Provide status reports to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of important maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with Financial, Engineering, EHS, Transportation, and Operations departments to resolve scheduling issues and maintain efficient management of maintenance.
  • Supervise functions related to outside contractors, protecting company interests.
  • Plan and organize workloads and crew assignments, reviewing progress and directing changes in priorities and schedules as needed.
  • Participate in the selection and promotion of staff, and conduct performance evaluations and resolve grievances with HR assistance.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation training and programs.
  • Manage, coordinate, and/or review numerous projects within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations affecting terminal operations.
  • Write scope of work, estimates, and submittals for bids for projects requiring outside contractors.
  • Effectively plan, schedule, and manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Lead and oversee multiple contractors to ensure projects and schedules are met.
  • Maintain an effective preventative and corrective maintenance program, including computerized maintenance management systems in Dossier and Maximo.
  • Provide oversight and management of Dossier and Maximo.
  • Organize projects, reviewing and managing expenditures and commitments, and prepare monthly cost control reports.
  • Work for the Terminal Manager of Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Ensure all work performed is in compliance with company environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 3 years, well-rounded experience in storage tank maintenance is highly desirable and should include specific working experience with product movements, pipeline maintenance, and personnel management, legal and environmental requirements affecting pipeline activities.
  • Good understanding of product pumps and motors.
  • Experience with Mississippi River docks, including fixed cranes (hydraulics), nitrogen and air systems, as well as steam boiler systems, is a plus.
  • Satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and current, valid State driver's license are required.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials) card.
  • Planning and Organizing: Establish a course of action for self and/or others to accomplish specific goals; Plan and prioritize proper assignments of personnel and/or appropriated allocation of resources.
  • Leadership: Utilize appropriate interpersonal styles and methods in guiding individuals/department (subordinates, peers, superiors) or groups toward task accomplishment. Consistently adhere to Kinder Morgan's policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the Company's core values of honesty, integrity and respect for people.
