Overview:

Position Details:
At the New Stockton VA Clinic, you will engage in a wide range of comprehensive ophthalmology practices. The role includes clinical management of general Cornea, Glaucoma, and Retina disorders, requiring exceptional anterior segment surgical expertise.

Responsibilities:
Your duties will encompass clinical care, resident supervision, and training in both outpatient and surgical settings. You will have the chance to perform surgeries with skilled eye nurses in your own operating room and mentor residents.

Affiliations:
We are affiliated with the UC Davis Hospital System, featuring state-of-the-art operating rooms and functioning as a modern full-service hospital. We serve as the referral center for sub-specialty eye conditions in Northern California, supported by dedicated technicians, on-site lasers, LenStar, optometry services, and an optical shop.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, primarily day shift with home call or Mon-Fri 8a-4:30p; shared on-call

Benefits:
Enjoy 26 days of paid vacation (accrued at 1 day per pay period), 13 days of sick leave (accrued at 1/2 day per pay period, no cap), and 11 paid Federal holidays. Competitive salary, malpractice protection with tail coverage provided by the Federal government, and annual performance pay (up to $15,000 possible). Additionally, a week of paid CME absence and a $1,000 annual stipend toward CME after one year of employment if board certified. No employment contract restrictions on moonlighting.

Incentives:
The Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) offers up to $200,000 over 5 years, tax-free, along with a Recruitment Incentive with a minimum 3-year service obligation.

Candidate Requirements:
Applicants must be: 1) US Citizens or PRA, 2) Board Eligible/Certified in Ophthalmology, 3) Hold a full, unrestricted medical license in any State, and 4) Confirm vaccination for seasonal influenza.

Compensation:
Compensation details are competitive and commensurate with experience.
