  • Accurately fills prescription items, adhering to the standards set by the State Board of Pharmacy, while packaging medications for dispensing and delivery.
  • Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
  • Participates in the periodic inventory management of the pharmacy.
  • May check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves, and remove expired items from inventory.
  • Prepares medications, including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, which may involve non-sterile compounding.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • May process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
  • Assists in training new employees.
  • May perform tasks such as:
    • Working in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room.
    • Utilizing automated machines for drug prepackaging.
    • Managing inventory functions, including monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identifying expired medications.
    • Inputting patient data and medication orders into a computer system to generate labels.
    • Mixing and packaging IV medications, while ensuring the sanitation of the IV room, equipment, and hood.
    • Servicing facility-based medication dispensing machines.
    • Performing other assigned tasks.


Qualifications:

Required:
High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in a pharmacy setting and familiarity with medical terminology. Proficient in computer operation; ability to recognize and identify medications. Detail-oriented, goal-driven, team player with effective oral communication skills. Valid Pharmacy Technician license.

Desired:
Experience in Long Term Care pharmacy.
