The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is on the lookout for talented individuals to engage in the agency's regional planning and policy initiatives across northeastern Illinois. As a mission-driven organization, CMAP serves the 284 municipalities and 7 counties in the region, acting as the comprehensive planning authority.
CMAP is currently experiencing a period of growth and is executing a diverse range of projects that align with the region's comprehensive plan while also adhering to our internal Strategic Direction. With an annual operating budget exceeding $43 million and a dedicated team of approximately 125 staff members, CMAP is poised for impactful work.
We are in search of leaders who can manage cross-divisional, complex projects and possess extensive knowledge and experience in policy, planning, or data analysis within the following areas of expertise:
- Housing & Land Use
- Transportation Programming
- Transportation (including general transportation and/or specialized areas such as safety, freight, transit, or micromobility)
The ideal candidate will showcase a deep understanding of their area of expertise and effectively engage with external audiences and stakeholders. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong experience and skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the job description. They will embody the agency's Core Values by fostering collaboration, leading with excellence, committing to equity, and driving innovation.
In this role, Senior Planning Principals will leverage their experience and subject matter expertise to guide program areas and support the professional development of staff. Additionally, the agency will be hiring Program Leads to oversee specific programs as defined within the Strategic Direction. While similar to the Principal role, Program Leads will not have direct managerial responsibilities.
Salary Range: $99,950 - $127,437
Experience Required: Bachelor's degree (in field or related field), 7 years of professional experience, master's degree preferred.
