Director of Nursing Job Description

At Addison Heights Health and Rehabilitation, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and direct the functions of the nursing department to ensure high-quality, efficient nursing care.
  • Supervise Unit Managers, Clinical Nurses, and Nurse Assistants to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
  • Develop and implement competency/skills checklists for nursing staff to ensure they have the necessary skills to provide excellent care.
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the nursing department to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Establish and maintain productive lines of communication with residents, families, internal staff, and external community.
  • Prepare and submit reports on nursing department operations as required.
  • Actively participate in the quality improvement process for the facility.
  • Participate in and/or provide inservice education sessions to ensure staff are up-to-date on best practices.
  • Schedule, direct, and document regular meetings with nursing staff to ensure effective communication.
