Substitute Childcare Educator

The Sub's primary goal at Victory Academy is to demonstrate a genuine passion for children and provide a safe, nurturing environment that fosters social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Subs must adhere to the lesson plan in the sub folder left by the teacher and maintain a positive relationship with parents, children, and teachers, ensuring the safety of all children while meeting the physical demands of the position.
Duties and Responsibilities- Arrive 15 minutes prior to the shift to review information in the sub folder for the designated classroom.
- Attend to the children's basic needs, including feeding, dressing, and changing diapers as needed, while working with children on self-help skills aiming towards self-sufficiency.
- Make note of important information to be relayed to the teacher upon their return.
- Meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs by breaking into small group learning to accommodate the varying ages of the children.
- Follow directions in the sub folder and from other teachers in the classroom, adhere to the daily schedule, and clean the classroom.
- Establish constructive and cooperative working relationships with other workers and maintain them over time for the good of the center.
- A clear background check is required.
- The position requires the equivalent of a high school diploma.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool children or an equivalent environment is necessary.
- Successful completion of minimum childcare licensing standards is a plus but not mandatory for the substitute position.
Attendance is an essential job function, requiring the applicant to arrive on time for scheduled shifts, set up, and be ready for kids' arrival.
Physical RequirementsThe position requires the ability to lift moderately heavy objects up to 25lbs and perform duties requiring extensive maneuverability and normal strength. The candidate must also be prepared to run, jump, and participate in physical activity.
EquipmentDuties will require the regular use of mobile devices, computers, and other electronics. The candidate must have access to transportation.
Compensation- The hourly rate is $11-$15, dependent on experience. If minimum childcare licensing standards are met, the hourly rate will reflect accordingly.
