Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Houston Community College. As a key member of our campus safety team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a secure and safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patrol and Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols of campus buildings and grounds to ensure the safety and security of our community.
  2. Incident Response: Respond to and investigate incidents, including accidents, injuries, and suspicious activity.
  3. Community Engagement: Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff, and engage with the community to promote a culture of safety and respect.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with campus departments and law enforcement agencies to share information and coordinate responses to incidents.
  5. Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices in campus safety and security.
Requirements
  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  2. Experience: 2 years of experience in a security or law enforcement role, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  3. Skills and Abilities: Possess a valid Texas driver's license, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
Working Conditions

This is a security-sensitive position that requires a background check, physical, and driving record check. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a controlled substance test and comply with HCC's drug and alcohol-free workplace policy.
