Job Summary
Magnet Medical is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team in Saint Peters, Missouri. This is a travel job opportunity that requires excellent patient care skills and experience with computed tomography (CT) scanners.

About the Job
This 13-week contract position involves operating CT equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures for patients. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining high-quality images of patients' bodies, which are used by physicians to diagnose conditions such as injuries, infections, cancers, and other abnormalities. Your primary focus will be on ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure, answering any questions, and ensuring they are comfortable.
• Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and prior imaging, to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate imaging protocols.
• Position patients properly on the CT table to obtain the necessary images, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
• Instruct patients on how to hold their breath or remain still during scans, as required by the procedure.

Operation of CT Equipment
• Operate and calibrate the CT scanner, ensuring proper settings for each scan, including parameters such as radiation dose, slice thickness, and imaging protocols.
• Administer contrast agents or dye injections (under physician or radiologist guidance) to enhance image clarity during certain CT procedures.
• Monitor the equipment during imaging to ensure high-quality images are captured and that no errors occur during the process.

Patient Safety and Comfort
• Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, including using the lowest possible dose for effective imaging and utilizing shielding where appropriate.
• Maintain a sterile, safe, and clean environment in the CT room, ensuring all equipment is sanitized between patients.
• Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent any risk of injury or discomfort during the scan, especially for vulnerable patients such as those with spinal injuries, mobility challenges, or pregnant patients.

Candidate Requirements
As a qualified Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will have:
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff.
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical issues with CT equipment and resolve complex imaging scenarios.
3. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic healthcare environment.
4. Current certification as a CT Technologist (RT(R)).
5. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs) and ability to accurately document patient information and imaging results.
