Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of interventional procedures, including embolization, tumor embolization, and chemotherapy embolization. You will work closely with our interventional radiologists to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with invasive procedures, including embolization, tumor embolization, and chemotherapy embolization
  • Operate and monitor digital imaging equipment, including CT scanners and fluoroscopy machines
  • Prepare and position patients for procedures, administer contrast media as directed by physicians, and provide immobilization devices and radiation protection to patients and personnel
  • Explain procedures and answer patient questions, report reactions, results of procedures, and any changes observed in the patient's condition to the registered nurse
  • Document pertinent medical information, maintain current knowledge on all interventional supplies, and identify and define all neuro, thoracic, abdominal, and peripheral vasculature
  • Operate digital imaging equipment, enter all pertinent data to IDX, Imaging Suite, and Picture Archiving Communication System Imaging Management Systems, obtain and reconstruct 3D images and digital subtraction angiography, perform quality control tests of equipment, and notify leadership and appropriate maintenance personnel of irregularities
  • Monitor dose reporting of high levels of radiation due to the length and complexity of procedures, ensure all equipment and supplies are properly cleaned and sterilized and in working order, maintain patient scheduling grease board for procedures, and share responsibility for ordering interventional supplies and maintaining appropriate levels of on-hand supplies
  • Responsible for all Quality Improvement documentation, imaging exams, and procedure tray setup require access and handling of non-controlled medications
Requirements
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology
  • Basic Life Support Certification and Certified Radiology Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Excellent communication and diagnostic imaging skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of medical equipment management, preceptor skills, radiation safety, and radiology
