Faculty members are responsible for the development, implementation, assessment, and revision of the nursing curriculum, which prepares graduates for dynamic healthcare environments.

Service involves utilizing academic and professional expertise to benefit the University, the nursing field, and the community.

Service activities enhance the University’s mission and strategic goals, support community well-being, and foster professional growth among faculty.

Scholarship involves producing, refining, disseminating, or creating works that contribute to nursing knowledge.

Position Summary:
This faculty role focuses on teaching Pediatrics in the BSN program. Responsibilities include educational engagement, service, and scholarly activities. The position is open until filled and reports to the Director of the BSN Program.

Primary Responsibilities:

Teaching (92%):
  • Develops a dynamic, student-centered learning environment utilizing diverse teaching methods grounded in educational theory and evidence-based practices to meet the varied learning needs of students.
  • Encourages reflective and critical thinking, acting as a mentor and coach for students; collaborates with them on their progress and assists in crafting learning plans to achieve course objectives.
  • Maintains and enhances expertise in relevant subjects.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to ensure course integrity across programs and the overall curriculum.
  • Designs and evaluates written assessments, projects, and student work; supervises independent study as needed and assesses student performance in both classroom and clinical settings.
  • Alerts Course Manager to students at risk or any unusual occurrences.
  • Supervises or instructs clinical rotations as required in various settings.
  • Documents student progress appropriately.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Service (8%):
  • Engages in Faculty Organization meetings.
  • Participates in College of Nursing Faculty meetings.
  • Contributes to University or College committees as necessary.
  • Provides service to the nursing profession and the community.
  • Participates in University and College events as required.
  • Clarifies nursing curriculum and program requirements for students.
  • Offers guidance to help students make informed academic decisions.
  • Increases awareness of educational resources available to students.
  • Discusses student academic progress and goals.
  • Refers students to institutional and community support services as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in nursing required; doctorate in nursing or a related field preferred.
  • Preferred teaching experience with diverse student populations at the baccalaureate level or higher.
  • Rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Unencumbered California registered nurse license or eligibility for licensure in California required.
  • Experience collaborating with leadership in healthcare and academic institutions preferred.
