Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled School Nurse LPN to provide direct school nursing services in an effort to promote prevention, medical management, and academics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of students to make a nursing diagnosis and establish a priority for action.
  • Interpret the health and developmental status of students to school personnel, parents, and the student as appropriate.
  • Provide health education programs and serve as a health resource person in the health instruction curriculum.
  • Participate in the development of Health Plans and attend school conferences when applicable.
  • Provide care, delegate, and teach care to others under the established plan of care while following the direction of a physician, nursing supervisor, school designee, and/or parent.
  • Attend continuing education programs as per licensure requirements and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered.
  • Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting students' rights and overall well-being.
  • Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and well-being of students in the school health setting.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pediatrics experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs.
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity.
  • Must have a strong sense of smell and touch.
  • Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
  • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport.
Environment
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions.
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
