Position Overview
The Patient Placement Specialist is responsible for ensuring the optimal utilization of healthcare resources within the continuum of care prior to service delivery. This role involves evaluating, assessing, planning, and facilitating comprehensive care plans. The specialist will also be tasked with obtaining and validating insurance prior authorizations and pre-certifications for both inpatient and outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of clinical and financial data to recommend the most suitable service delivery settings, ensuring efficient resource use and reimbursement optimization.
- Timely precertification of patient care services requiring prior authorization to enhance reimbursement for both patients and healthcare providers.
- Effectively communicate clinical recommendations and fiscal information to internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal service delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Engage in planning, data collection, and analysis for performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the patient placement and precertification processes.
- Achieve assigned performance goals and objectives.
Qualifications
Education:
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum: Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Preferred: 8 years of relevant business or clinical experience in a healthcare environment, focusing on patient access, business office, or case management.
- Minimum: 5 years of relevant business or clinical experience in a healthcare environment, focusing on patient access, business office, or case management.
Licensure and Certification:
- Preferred: LPN or CMA certification.
Special Skills:
- Exceptional communication abilities and advanced computer proficiency.
