Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide civil litigation services in areas such as housing, consumer, education, federal income tax, elder, employment, family law, probate, and public benefits.
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to address the legal needs of low-income individuals and communities.
  • Collaborate with other advocates, community organizations, and government agencies to provide comprehensive services to clients.
  • Conduct community education presentations and outreach activities to raise awareness about legal issues affecting low-income individuals.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in laws and regulations affecting low-income individuals and communities.

Requirements:

  • Member of the SC Bar
  • Litigation and clinical experience preferred but not required if committed to public interest/poverty law, working with low-income, underserved, rural, diverse clients and client communities, and ability to collaborate effectively with other advocates and those agencies that serve the low-income community.
  • Fully proficient in written and spoken English and Spanish
  • Excellent relationship building, leadership, and research skills
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 2016 and Microsoft Office 365
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with low-income individuals and communities
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting low-income individuals and communities
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
