Unit Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Unit Assistant to join our team at Northeast Georgia Health System. As a Unit Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Job Summary:The Unit Assistant will provide a wide range of support services to our patients, including maintaining patient records, unit supplies, and equipment. You will also serve as a facilitator for communications and perform patient care within the scope of defined practice. Responsibilities:- Obtain and report basic patient physiological data, such as vital signs, weight, and skin condition.
- Utilize proper body mechanics to provide for positioning, mobility, hygiene, ADL, and/or comfort needs.
- Monitor fluids intake and output and document accordingly.
- Promptly identify and report physical and mental status changes to licensed staff.
- Organize patient care and set priorities by implementing physician and nursing orders within prescribed time frames.
- Perform therapeutic procedures within the parameters of the job description and report patient response to supervising nurse.
- Maintain patient records, unit supplies, and equipment, and serve as a facilitator for communications.
- Participate in staff meetings and respond to emails in a timely manner.
- Exhibit flexibility in scheduling to meet departmental staffing needs.
- Licensure or certification: Current Georgia Certified Nursing Assistant or successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing Course if a nursing student.
- Educational Requirements: Reading, writing, and math skills at a 10th grade completion level or higher.
- Minimum Experience: No previous experience is required, on-the-job training in practices and procedures of the hospital and medical terminology is provided.
