Position Overview

The Travel CVOR Technologist plays a crucial role in the surgical team, specializing in cardiovascular operating room procedures. This position requires a strong background in both general and cardiac surgery, ensuring high-quality patient care during complex surgical interventions.

Certification Requirements
  • Certifications: Must hold certifications in Total Joint, Heart Center, Level 2 Trauma, Stroke, and Cardiac Center recognition.
Key Responsibilities
  • Main OR Procedures: Perform surgical interventions in various specialties including General, Trauma, Orthopedics (trauma and elective joints/sports medicine), Urology, GYN, XI robotic utilization, Plastics, and Neuro (complex cranial and spinal services).
  • CVOR Responsibilities: Engage in complex thoracic surgeries, including AAA repairs, valve replacements, and CABG, as well as open and endovascular procedures such as bypass, angioplasty, and stenting.
Job Expectations
  • Travelers will be scheduled according to facility policies, with expectations to work alternating weekends and holidays in rotation with hospital staff.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience is required, with a focus on cardiac procedures.
  • Requested Skill Set: Proficient in circulating roles within the General OR, including Orthopedics, Neuro, Plastics, Vascular, Trauma, and Robotic OBGYN and Urology cases.
Job Requirements
  • General circulating knowledge is essential, including patient positioning, preparation, and facilitation of cases in the aforementioned surgical areas.
  • CVOR skills must include positioning, preparation, and the use of endovascular equipment for complex thoracic and vascular surgeries.
Scheduling Information
  • CVOR Schedule: 8-10 call shifts (12 hours) Monday through Friday, with 24-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays for a duration of 4 weeks.
  • Main OR Schedule: 3 call shifts (12 hours) every 4 weeks. Availability for both day and night shifts is offered.
Unit Specific Information
  • Unit Details: 13 beds in the main OR and 2 in the CVOR.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1.
  • Staffing Structure: 1 RN and 1 CST per room, with turnover staff, 1 charge RN, and 4:1 anesthesia coverage. In-house night shift available.
  • Equipment Utilized: XI Robot, advanced spine technology, and Mako joint robot.
  • Documentation System: Meditech.
  • Floating Policy: No floating required.
  • Unit Guidelines: Specific policies and guidelines are available for review.
Additional Information
  • Patient Experience: Adherence to AIDET principles is required.
  • Awards and Recognition: Consideration for items such as new equipment or technology, staff tenure and experience, and scheduling options.
