The Flance Early Learning Center fosters a rich early childhood environment that values and nurtures both children and adults within a culture built on trust, empathy, compassion, and joy. A key component of our mission is to forge strong partnerships with families and community organizations, empowering children to develop a love for learning, a robust sense of identity, and social connections that are vital for their growth and success.


Primary Responsibilities

The Parent Liaison serves as a vital resource for Flance families. This role involves the development, planning, communication, and management of parent-centered engagement, educational initiatives, events, and wellness programs, alongside maintaining resources for external family referrals. Collaboration with staff to enhance all Flance programming is also essential.


Key Interactions

  • Engages daily with Flance families (both children and parents), staff, and community partners.
  • Acts as a reliable resource for parents, ensuring their needs and those of Flance are met while upholding Flance's core values, policies, and procedures.
  • Facilitates and communicates parent/family engagement opportunities to parents and staff to promote a unified approach.
  • Collaborates with Flance staff and families to enhance parent education, engagement, and programming based on feedback and funding requirements.
  • Coordinates all parent engagement, educational events, and volunteer opportunities.

Planning Responsibilities

  • Designs and schedules regular parent-focused programs (e.g., cooking classes, yoga, mindfulness sessions, infant massage) in coordination with educational administration.
  • Oversees monthly Family Fridays and assists with all family-oriented events.
  • Organizes special family-focused activities and support groups.
  • Encourages active parent participation in all activities, including fulfilling required volunteer hours.
  • Works closely with the Communications Manager to ensure effective communication regarding all parent/family activities and community events.
  • Researches and maintains current resources for families, including child development opportunities, local activities, wellness programs, and workshops, with a focus on supporting low-income families.
  • Coordinates, recruits, and trains parent volunteers for various opportunities, including classroom assistance and event support.

Implementation Duties

  • Enhances parent involvement in their child's education and all Flance programming, from social-emotional learning plans to attendance at events.
  • Monitors and evaluates parent participation and required volunteer hours.
  • Manages the monthly fresh produce box initiative and oversees the food and community pantry, including tracking donations and feedback.
  • Documents and reports on all parent programming to demonstrate growth and improvements, ensuring compliance for grant reporting.
  • Informs families about available resources from Flance and other community services to support their overall wellness.
  • Refers families to appropriate internal or external mental health and family assistance resources.

Work Environment

This position is primarily indoor at the Center, characterized by a busy open office environment with high noise and activity levels. Staff, visitors, families, and children frequently come and go. The role may require immediate attention to urgent situations. A health screening, TB test, annual background check, and fingerprinting are required. All employees are expected to engage fully in the Center's activities and must be able to lift 25 lbs. in case of emergencies.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in educational or non-profit settings is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent proofreading abilities.
  • Familiarity with early learning centers and their services is a plus.
