We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team at Teach-In West Virginia Application System. The successful candidate will provide behavioral supports and services to students with autism spectrum disorders and/or behavior challenges in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement behavioral interventions with district approvals.
- Participate in behavior teams to provide support and management for the implementation of behavior plans.
- Maintain accurate records and provide guidance to teachers and staff on behavioral interventions.
- Provide coaching and professional development to staff on behavior interventions and supports.
- Participate in IEP Team meetings as needed.
- Collaborate with regular classroom teachers and special education staff to support students with behavioral challenges.
- Participate in the referral and re-evaluation process for students with autism spectrum disorders.
- Work with special education administrators, school psychologists, and social workers to develop FBA/BIP procedures and paperwork.
- Assist with maintaining student data and preparing reports for the Director and Supervisor of Special Education.
- Develop and provide staff training on working effectively with students with autism and other behavioral disorders.
- Masters degree in applied behavioral sciences, psychology, education, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with students with autism and related disorders in school settings.
- Experience working as a behavior specialist in public education classrooms for students with mild to severe autism and other developmental delays.
- Experience and training in functional behavior assessments, behavioral plans, and emergency behavioral interventions.
- Experience and training in curriculum, instruction, classroom management, and intervention techniques.
- Experience in developing and supervising Discrete Trial Training programs.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
- CPR, Ukeru, and/or CPI certification or completion of certifications within the first 30 days of employment.
The successful candidate will work in a school setting, providing behavioral supports and services to students with autism spectrum disorders and/or behavior challenges. The position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
