We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician I-Lab Admin General-PRN to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of laboratory results, while also providing exceptional customer service to our patients and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities- Specimen Collection and Handling: Obtain blood specimens via venipuncture and/or fingerstick, accurately identify and label specimens, and follow procedures for processing and testing.
- Result Reporting: Recognize errors or improbable results, take appropriate action, and report critical values per policy and procedure.
- Quality Control and Performance Improvement: Perform and record quality control according to policy and procedure, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform daily and periodic preventative maintenance, troubleshoot minor problems, and initiate service calls as needed.
- Training and Education: Assist in training new associates and students in laboratory practices, and participate in ongoing professional growth and education.
- Education: Associate's degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience.
- Experience: Six months of approved clinical laboratory experience, including a clinical rotation through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
- Licensure: Louisiana requires state licensure for new graduates who are board certified or eligible.
Work schedule and type will be determined based on business needs.
