Leadership may be exercised over a small team of technical, medical, or administrative staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs the diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up protocols for the healthcare team dedicated to the specialty, including standard laboratory procedures.
  • Collects comprehensive medical histories.
  • Conducts thorough physical assessments.
  • Prescribes appropriate treatments and/or medications.
  • Determines case management strategies, including follow-up visits, laboratory assessments, nursing care, and referrals to other specialties as necessary. When applicable, collaborates with healthcare team members to formulate a comprehensive health plan for the patient.
  • Regularly reviews patient records to ensure the accurate completion of medical documentation and care.
  • Participates in patient case discussions.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development by attending relevant meetings, conferences, and educational sessions.
  • Fulfills assigned duties as a member of the backup hospital staff.
  • Maintains community relationships to ensure effective and responsive treatment services.
  • Undertakes additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Experience: Comprehensive understanding of the cardiology specialty; proficient in the methods of patient management in a clinical environment; adept at diagnosing both common and complex medical issues related to cardiology; capable of planning and executing an effective health program that integrates preventive, prophylactic, and therapeutic goals.

Education:

A licensed physician in Maryland who has successfully completed a medical education program and obtained a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. Licenses / Certifications: A current, valid license issued by the Maryland State Medical Board to practice medicine.
