Job Summary

As a skilled Anesthetist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care by coordinating their anesthetic needs with other perioperative personnel. Your expertise will be essential in administering anesthesia services for medical and surgical procedures, ensuring the well-being of patients throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. Additionally, you will respond to emergent airway management situations within the facility as needed, demonstrating your ability to work effectively under pressure. This role may require on-call duties, either in-house or from home, as required by the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists to develop anesthetic plans, discussing risks, benefits, and options with patients. Prepare for anesthetic administration and plan implementation. - 15%
  • Perform special line placement procedures within established guidelines, including intravenous and arterial line insertion. - 10%
  • Document pre-anesthesia assessments and intraoperative anesthesia care on the intra-op anesthesia record, including vital signs, drug deliveries, fluid and blood deliveries, fluid loss, events, and comments. Document charges, quality indicators, and controlled substance disbursement use and waste. - 25%
  • Maintain age-specific competence in anesthesia technical skills, including airway management, induction, blocks, and general anesthesia. - 20%
  • Stay up-to-date with anesthesia pharmacology, modalities, techniques, and technology, acquiring new knowledge to enhance patient care. - 15%
  • Foster a safe practice environment by minimizing risk of infection, physical injury, psychological stress, and equipment failure. - 15%

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management role that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

A Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthesia is required. No previous experience is necessary.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licensure

  • SC RN- Advance Practice
  • CRNA- Nurse Anesthetist

Additional Requirements

In lieu of the Master's Degree in Anesthesia, CRNA's graduating before December 31, 2003 from an advanced, organized formal education program for nurse anesthetists accredited by the national accreditation organization of the CRNA specialty will be accepted.
