POSITION SUMMARY:

Teach courses in human anatomy and physiology. Additional responsibilities include: academic advising, maintaining office hours, engaging in college committees, supporting the department's mission, leading extracurricular activities, participating in professional development, and collaborating across departments to enhance student communication and problem-solving abilities. Faculty members are expected to accept course assignments that may include various formats such as in-person, evening, weekend, dual credit, blended, and/or online courses. This role reports to the Division Chair of Math & Sciences.

NOTE: This is a security-sensitive position, and a thorough background check will be conducted on candidates under serious consideration for this role.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Subject matter expertise. 2. Curriculum design. 3. Current pedagogical trends relevant to biology. 4. Educational technology to support classroom instruction. Skills in: 5. Utilizing technology for instructional purposes. 6. Developing and delivering online courses. Ability to: 7. Foster cooperative working relationships with faculty and staff in the science department. 8. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 9. Participate in college committees. 10. Collaborate across departments to enhance student communication, computation, and critical thinking skills. 11. Promote and support extracurricular initiatives.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Physical demands are moderate: sustained posture or intense focus for extended periods. Light lifting (under 30 lbs.), occasional walking, pushing, and pulling. Work setting is a standard office environment with minimal hazards and adequate controls for health and comfort.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Master's degree in a life science from an accredited institution with at least 15 semester credit hours related to anatomy and physiology.

Experience: Teaching experience at the postsecondary level.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience at the postsecondary level. Experience in teaching human anatomy and physiology or closely related subjects. Experience in developing and teaching online courses. Experience with dual credit students.
