Education and Experience Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in sheetmetal work or fabrication. A valid Driver's License is mandatory. Position Overview: The Sheetmetal Technician II operates under general oversight to effectively layout, fabricate, and install components, equipment, and fabricated items on aircraft, adhering to established operational protocols. All tasks must align with company design specifications and quality standards, ensuring that completed work meets client expectations.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Safely execute sheet-metal layout, fabrication, and installation of components on aircraft under general supervision. Collaborate with supervisory staff and Inspection to ensure adherence to internal and FAA documentation, sign-offs, and quality standards.
  2. Interpret blueprints to cut and shape materials, and follow standard procedures when utilizing adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
  3. Employ appropriate tools to shape and form intricate angles and configurations according to blueprint specifications or verbal/written instructions.
  4. Operate shop machinery such as brakes, presses, riveting tools, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet-metal tasks. Utilize the correct hardware for various sheetmetal applications.
  5. Adhere to all safety, 5S, and housekeeping protocols. Utilize personal protective equipment as necessary. Ensure protection of aircraft interiors.
  6. Participate in monthly 5S audits.
  7. Utilize the material tracking system to generate parts demand, monitor issues, and sign-off completed work.
  8. Contribute to initiatives aimed at fulfilling individual OGSM objectives, as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Engage in continuous improvement efforts (e.g., YIAW, Kaizen events, etc.).
  2. Properly use and maintain company-issued tools and equipment, returning items to the tool room post-use.
  3. Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures when using ground support equipment.
  4. Correctly collect and dispose of waste materials such as fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvent rags.
  5. Accurately record daily job charging to the aircraft.
  6. Share job-related information and coordinate work activities between shifts through turnover report meetings and direct communication with leadership.
  7. Assist in the upkeep of shop equipment and associated Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Perform additional duties as assigned.Other Requirements:
  1. A solid understanding of sheet-metal installation and fabrication processes (measuring, cutting, bending, forming, and drilling of aluminum sheet stock, angle, and honeycomb) is essential.
  2. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering documents.
  3. A valid driver's license is required for operating towing and other Gulfstream transportation equipment.
  4. Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
  5. Capable of using tools and equipment associated with sheetmetal installation and fabrication tasks.
  6. Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
  7. Must possess a good working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  8. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
