Responsibilities
The Obstetric Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering safe and effective patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Direct patient care is provided within the defined scope of practice.
The Registered Nurse also oversees and instructs patient and family education, as well as the activities of other nursing staff, while upholding care standards in the maternity unit.
Ability to respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment responses is essential.
Ensuring a safe environment for patients and visitors is a priority.
The Registered Nurse utilizes the chain of command when necessary to guarantee patient safety and the appropriateness of care for mothers and newborns during the antepartum and postpartum periods.
QualificationsEducation and Work Experience
Must possess a current and valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State. BLS (AHA) Certification is required upon hire and must be maintained. ACLS (AHA) Certification is required upon hire and must be maintained. NRP (AHA) Certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained. Basic Fetal Monitoring Certification must be achieved within 60 days of hire and maintained.
