Job Description
As a Business Office Representative Clerk, you will provide support to the facility by performing specific or various business office functions as assigned.
These functions include medical records, credentialing, admissions/intake, accounts payable, billing, collections, insurance verification, transactions, posting, clinical logs, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Schedules surgeries in the surgery template in the computer, including pertinent information
- Handles calls from physician's offices regarding scheduling patients, surgeries, or associated calls
- Answers phone calls in a pleasant manner and deals with physician offices and patients' needs expeditiously
- Takes messages and transfers calls to other departments when necessary
- Performs pre-registration and obtains authorization from the physician's office prior to surgery
- Completes necessary paperwork for registration and uses the computer system to generate information for surgical/special procedures
- Maintains log for cancelled appointments
- Performs various clerical duties such as photocopying forms, reports, patient information, mailing surveys, preparing patient charts, faxing forms, and retrieving faxes as needed
- Maintains a clean and orderly surgery scheduling area
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or equivalent preferred
- Minimum three years of experience in healthcare and minimum one-year experience in surgery scheduling procedures preferred
- Ability to work independently and function within a team
- Basic knowledge of surgery scheduling, receptionist, and registration responsibilities
- Ability to handle stress
- Flexibility with hours and ability to work whatever shift is covered
Salary
USD $16.00/Hr. USD $25.00/Hr.
