Histotechnician - Nights

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnician to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As a Histotechnician, you will play a critical role in the preparation and examination of tissue specimens for diagnostic purposes.

• Receive and accession surgical, biopsy, and autopsy specimens for routine tissue processing and subsequent microscopic examination.
• Assist Pathologists and Residents in the gross dissection room.
• Embed tissues in paraffin, cut, stain, and label slides, and perform special procedures such as special stains, plastic procedures, undecalcified bone processing, and photography of gross specimens.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• HT (ASCP) registration.
• Excellent interpersonal and judgmental skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, nurses, and other personnel.
• Strong analytical skills to perform calculations and operate laboratory equipment.
• Ability to work independently and manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in computer skills and data entry.
