Job Title: Ob/Gyn Sonographer

Froedtert Health is seeking a skilled Ob/Gyn Sonographer to join their team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations in the Ob/Gyn department, utilizing sound ergonomics to prevent injury and producing high-quality images. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of normal anatomy and physiology, normal variations, and pathology, and will be able to adjust imaging processes as needed to demonstrate all.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform sonographic examinations according to department standards and protocols.
  • Produce high-quality images and ensure that all images are appropriately labeled and identified.
  • Recognize normal anatomy and physiology, normal variations, and pathology, and adjust imaging processes as needed to demonstrate all.
  • Analyze physician orders and patient history to ensure correlation between patient history and exam to be administered.
  • Contribute technical and professional knowledge to the interpreting physician.
  • Work with other departments and modalities for appropriate scheduling and throughput of exams.
  • Provide sonography service at all necessary locations, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage as scheduled.
  • Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and repairs.
  • Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report any equipment malfunction or issue to sonographer lead or manager.
  • Prepare patients for exam by providing a clear explanation of the procedures and answering questions using the AIDET technique.
  • Consistently assist in the transfer and positioning of patients prior to and after patient imaging.
  • Provide assistance to radiologists and other medical staff during performance of interventional, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures requiring ultrasound guidance.
  • Practice infection control and sterile techniques; remain current of any changes or updates.
  • Verify, collect, document, and hand off lab specimens.
Requirements:
  • One year of current clinical experience is preferred.
  • Substantial training and current clinical experience with ARDMS registry will be accepted.
  • Candidate must be proficient with ultrasound equipment and have basic knowledge of patient care equipment.
  • Familiarity with McKesson PACS, Epic EMR preferred.
  • Newly hired, experienced sonographers must be registry eligible through the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers).
  • Sonographers will be required to be registered in Abdomen (AB), OB/GYN (OB), and Vascular (VT).
  • Breast registration required at sites that perform Breast Ultrasound.
  • Each registry not obtained at the time hire will need to be completed every 9 months until all registries are complete.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Ultrasound/Sonography is preferred.
  • Graduate or a student in a program accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), United States Department of Education (USDOE), or Canadian Medical Association (CMA), that specifically conducts programmatic accreditation for diagnostic medical sonography/diagnostic cardiac sonography/vascular technology.
