We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Mentor to join our team at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain.
About the RoleThe Academic Mentor will work with 1st through 5th grade students, using a set lesson plan and program materials, to provide academic support and guidance. This role is primarily indoors and requires ability to stand, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing up to 50lbs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in developing individualized lesson plans, following the set program format, for all assigned students.
- Tutor assigned students 4 times per week, for 30 minutes per session, to assess, assist, and encourage members in the learning process.
- Complete all reports and documentation, as required, for academic data for K-5 Club members.
- Work with staff to implement creative and engaging after-school literacy games/activities for program participants.
- High School diploma required; Associates Degree or greater preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work or volunteer experience with youth required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience working within diverse socioeconomic demographics.
$45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including annual merit-based raises, 403(b) retirement, opportunity for advancement, training & development, and paid time off.
