Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Charter Township of Shelby. As a key member of our Parks, Recreation, and Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and physical labor duties on a variety of Township equipment, property, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily opening and closing of Township parks and buildings.
  • Conduct routine park maintenance, including trash removal, tree trimming, mowing, landscaping, and sprinkler repairs.
  • Perform routine building maintenance, including trash removal, HVAC belt and filter maintenance, painting, cleaning, and minor repairs.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as snow plows, and perform snow removal duties.
  • Maintain work orders and necessary paperwork for new installations, repairs, and other tasks performed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least six months of related groundskeeping, landscaping, or facilities maintenance work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate Township vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds on a routine basis.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive hourly wage of $22.85 per hour, with no benefits. If hired into a future full-time position, you will be required to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License within six months of hire.
