Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Orthopedic and Neurosurgical department at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, IN. As a member of our team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients with musculoskeletal issues, including broken or fractured bones, arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, and other injuries and diseases.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans, including assessing and coordinating patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate, including serving as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders, including assessing and coordinating patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Requirements
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Education: Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.
Preferred Qualifications

We are a specialized Med Surg unit that sees patients with musculoskeletal issues, including broken or fractured bones, arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, and other injuries and diseases. You will also see Laminectomy/Discectomy surgeries, Trauma Injuries, and Podiatry patients. We get patients from ER, ICU transfers, elective ortho/neuro surgeries from PACU, and direct admits. You will work as an integral part of the orthopedic and neurosurgical team working alongside the orthopedic surgeon, neurosurgeon, and trauma surgeon; and ensuring that patients on the road to recovery are properly regaining strength and range of motion.
