Medical Support Specialist

We are seeking a Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Akron Children's Hospital. This is a part-time position, working 24 hours per week.
Work Schedule:
The selected candidate will work from 7pm-7:30am, onsite at our hospital.
About the Role:
As a Medical Support Specialist, you will provide continuous observation and individual care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients.
- Implement evidence-based de-escalation interventions as needed.
- Maintain a safe environment for yourself, patients, and others.
- Remain alert and attentive at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
- Provide direct patient care such as vital signs and transporting patients to other departments as delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Stock linens and supplies as required.
- Document observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within EPIC.
- Prioritize and execute tasks for assigned patients in a timely and efficient manner.
- Alert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintain a calm and professional presence for patients and their family members.
- Follow all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.
Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
Estimated Salary Range: $35,000 - $45,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
