Job Title: Veterinarian

Join the City of Midland, TX team as a Veterinarian and contribute to the well-being of animals in our community.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinarian to join our Animal Services team. As a Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing high-quality veterinary care to animals in our shelter, including spay/neuter surgeries, medical consultations, and preventative care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily rounds and evaluate the health and welfare of animals in the shelter
  • Provide timely preventative care, diagnostic procedures, triage, and general medical and basic surgical treatment of all animals in the shelter
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement preventive health surveillance, analysis, and nutrition programs
  • Manage the surgery suite and inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Supervise and train staff, and develop staff skills and meet regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues
  • Coordinate operations with external partners and other public and private agencies
  • Monitor and review trends in shelter operations and health management issues, and recommend operational, procedural, and policy improvements
Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college or university
  • License to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Texas
  • 3 years of experience preferred, but not required
  • Certifications: Required License to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Texas and a valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate
  • Valid Class C Driver's License
