Key Responsibilities

The Staff Automation Engineer will contribute to the development and implementation of automation systems and workflows to support laboratory processes. This role collaborates with scientists on projects to conceptualize, design, develop, and implement solutions to optimize performance and increase efficiencies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify automated hardware and software solutions based on issues faced by Operations and R&D teams
  • Lead project work to develop and integrate automation systems and related software tools, preparing documentation for equipment validation and operating procedures
  • Program liquid handling robots and oversee functional and validation testing
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, build rapport with end-users, and provide user training
  • Act as a leader within the Signatera RUO team to train junior staff on liquid handler maintenance
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a BS degree in Biomedical engineering or a closely related scientific field, with at least 10 years of laboratory automation engineering experience. Technical proficiency and experience in automation and systems development and integration for the life science industry are required, especially with robotics and liquid handling systems. Experience with computer programming is preferred.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Biomedical engineering or a closely related scientific field
  • Experience working in biotech, pharmaceutical, or clinical-laboratory environments
