Overview

Cayuga County New York is seeking a qualified Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our team. This is a provisional appointment that will be converted to a permanent position based on the candidate's performance and civil service exam score.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled professional to provide crisis intervention services to Cayuga County residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing direct services, including crisis intervention, to individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, alcoholism or substance abuse, and/or children with serious emotional disturbance.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a qualifying field such as social work, psychology, nursing, education, rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physical therapy, recreation, counseling, community mental health, child and family studies, sociology, or speech and hearing
  • At least one year of experience in providing direct services, including crisis intervention, to individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, alcoholism or substance abuse, and/or children with serious emotional disturbance
  • Possession of a valid New York State operator's license appropriate for vehicles operated
Benefits

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $55,000-$65,000 per year. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Additional Information

The Crisis Intervention Specialist will work as part of a crisis team to provide interventions in various settings, including homes, schools, and community locations. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
