Swim Instructor

Are you passionate about teaching others to swim? Do you have a strong background in aquatic education and a commitment to safety? We are seeking a qualified Swim Instructor to join our team at The Salvation Army USA Western Territory.

The Swim Instructor will be responsible for teaching swim lessons to children and adults, following the guidelines and policies of The Salvation Army. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

• Teach swim lessons to children and adults, following the guidelines and policies of The Salvation Army.
• Evaluate students and recommend appropriate classes for their skill levels.
• Provide corrective and positive feedback to students to ensure learning and a positive atmosphere.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to all aquatic facility policies and regulations.
• Communicate regularly with participants and parents, and maintain a positive rapport with students, members, and guests.

• Received formal swim instruction through an accredited curriculum provider or a member of a swim club or varsity.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification, or equivalent.
• First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.

• Swim lesson instruction and water exercise instruction experience.
• Familiarity with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels and other Red Cross water safety courses.

The Swim Instructor will work in a fast-paced environment, with regular exposure to the sun, heat, and hazardous conditions. Attendance at trainings and conferences may be required, and extensive travel is possible.
