Job Summary:

The Emergency Department Technician plays a vital role in providing patient care in a fast-paced environment. As a member of the patient care team, you will assist registered nurses with delegated tasks, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes
  • Observe patient conditions, recognize changes, and report findings to RNs
  • Escort patients to other departments as required
  • Clean, procure, and return equipment and supplies
  • Assist with ordering and maintaining stock items
  • Perform special procedures, such as venipuncture, splinting, and dressing changes
  • Set up for Emergency Department procedures and assist RNs as directed
  • Operate patient monitoring equipment, record rhythm strips, and run EKGs
  • Perform phlebotomy, collect laboratory specimens, and insert saline locks under RN direction

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • 1-2 years of patient care experience in an acute care hospital or military medic setting, or an Active EMT license in lieu of experience
  • Current BLS certification required
  • EMT Basic or EMT Intermediate license is preferred or required in lieu of experience
