Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer with a background in high-voltage substations to join our team at Primoris Power Delivery. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing the structural components of high-voltage substations, ensuring their safety, stability, and compliance with relevant industry standards and codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and analysis of structural components in high-voltage substations, including foundations, support structures, gantries, bus structures, and control buildings.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to national and international building codes, electrical industry standards, and safety regulations relevant to high-voltage substations.
  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate the suitability of locations for new substations, taking into account geological conditions and environmental factors.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations, such as load analysis, seismic analysis, wind loading, and foundation design, to ensure the structural integrity of substation components.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize substation designs, considering cost-effectiveness, constructability, and long-term performance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate projects, ensuring timely delivery, and providing technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in substation structures and propose mitigation strategies to enhance safety and resilience.
  • Offer technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on structural matters related to high-voltage substations.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in substation structural engineering and contribute to research initiatives to improve industry practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on high-voltage substations.
  • Proficient in structural analysis software, such as ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, etc.
  • Solid understanding of national and international building codes and industry standards related to substations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, ASCE, NESC).
  • Experience with 3D modeling and Building Information Modeling (BIM) is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
