Electrical Inspector II

The County of Maui is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Inspector II to join our team. As an Electrical Inspector II, you will be responsible for inspecting and testing electrical installations and equipment in various buildings and structures to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and electrical codes.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect electrical installations and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and structures to ensure compliance with electrical codes and ordinances.
- Test electrical equipment and installations to ensure they are functioning safely and efficiently.
- Conduct inspections and investigations to identify electrical hazards and defects.
- Issue notices to persons or entities involved where electrical installations are found to be defective, deficient, or in violation of codes and ordinances.
- Follow up on violation notices to verify that corrections are made.
- Check the quality of materials and methods used for all electrical installations and make recommendations to electrical contractors and owners.
- Inspect electrical wiring equipment and installations in publicly owned buildings for conformity with electrical codes and ordinances.
- Respond to complaints or requests to investigate electrical hazards or concerns.
- Prepare and submit reports and correspondence informing requestors of the results of investigations or inspections.
- Combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and five years of experience in the inspection or supervision of residential, commercial, or industrial electrical installation work.
- Possession of a State of Hawaii Journey Worker or Supervising Electrician license or Certified Electrical Inspector Master.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license (Type 3).
The Electrical Inspector II will work in a variety of settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and structures. The position requires the ability to climb stairs, work at heights, and navigate confined spaces.
