Job Description

Strategic Insight, Ltd. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Integrated Combat Systems (V) Department Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) system engineering team.

Mandatory Requirement: Applicants selected for this position may be subject to a Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret clearance level.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting detailed, complex engineering activities associated with engineering systems, capabilities, and activities
  • Functional and system level requirements analysis, requirements generation, and technical community review
  • System engineering design, performance, analysis, operational experience for military applications
  • Development of system engineering products, including definition, functional allocation, design development, testing, integration, and operational performance
  • Development of total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints

Success for working in this position requires:

  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with NSWC Dahlgren Division and Department staff at all levels, consultants, and other government staff
  • Ability to work with sensitive and classified information
  • Ability to work with NMCI systems
  • Ability to adapt and multi-task
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence, discretion, and personal initiative
  • Self-starter, goal-oriented, provides timely feedback on progress made on assignments
  • Excellent organizational skills: ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks, handle complex assignments, maintain status across several stakeholders, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets, prepare presentation slides, and produce customized reports
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments, including good proofreading, grammar, and analytical skills

Education and Experience:

  • Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) Accredited Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree from ABET recognized engineering curriculum
  • Experience: Ten (10) years of General Surface Navy Combat Systems systems engineering experience, with ten (10) years of specialized experience with emphasis in one or more of the following:
    • Combat Systems Cyber Security
    • Ships Self Defense System
    • Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class frigate
    • Aegis Integrated Combat Systems
    • DDG-1000 Zumwalt class destroyer
    • Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense
    • Element Level (Weapon, Sensor, or Combat Management System) Experience
