Role Summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Rail Project Manager to lead the expansion of our rail services in the Mid-Atlantic region. The selected candidate will oversee significant transit initiatives, which may encompass program management, rail projects of regional or national importance, alternative delivery methods (design-build-operate-maintain), and the implementation of various transit technologies such as Light Rail, modern streetcars, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) for public sector clients. Responsibilities may also include project development activities, particularly those in the environmental approval phase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Management: Collaborate with management to assess staffing requirements based on projected workloads. Review and endorse recommendations for recruitment, transfers, or terminations, and present these to senior management as necessary. Conduct performance evaluations and career planning sessions, providing ongoing feedback to enhance staff performance and development.
  • Project Oversight: Assist project teams in formulating work plans, reviewing schedules, budgets, and deliverables. Ensure financial performance is monitored, addressing potential issues proactively to maintain client satisfaction. Manage a portfolio of complex projects, ensuring compliance with quality control standards and facilitating collaboration across operating units.
  • Client Relations: Maintain and enhance relationships with existing clients while establishing new connections. Act as the primary liaison for clients, addressing advanced program-related matters. Develop and implement strategic marketing plans for targeted projects, actively seeking new opportunities for growth.
  • Contract Management: Lead contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors. Develop operational budgets for approval and monitor project performance against these budgets to ensure profitability.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a postgraduate degree is preferred. Management coursework or an MBA is advantageous. A minimum of 15 years of experience in the field, with at least three years in project management or supervisory roles.
  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead teams and manage project execution. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective representation of the firm to clients and stakeholders.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is required.
