Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan and execute leisure activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities, promoting social cohesion and community building.
  2. Develop and implement programs that enhance cognitive abilities, such as concentration and reasoning, through activities like current events and interactive games.
  3. Oversee the exercise area and ensure the safe use of equipment and weights.
  4. Provide skills development sessions to residents, teaching them how to access low-cost recreational resources and plan leisure time outside the residence.
  5. Create a weekly schedule of activities that meets the needs and interests of residents.
  6. Establish partnerships with community recreational facilities and businesses to provide residents with free or discounted access.
  7. Monitor the use of recreational software and ensure its availability to residents.
  8. Document all activities and incidents, submitting reports as required.
  9. Report serious incidents, allegations of abuse, or sensitive situations, completing incident reports in accordance with agency policy.
  10. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies, promoting an ethical organizational culture.
  11. Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
  12. Attend scheduled supervision, training, and staff development meetings or assigned case conferences.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services area, such as recreation therapy or creative arts therapy.
  • Two years of experience in recreation/therapeutic recreation programming or a closely related field.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals, including those with cognitive disabilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present information to residents and staff, and to work as a team member.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in identifying and solving problems, and to know when to seek assistance.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and comply with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize time effectively to accomplish all tasks in a timely manner.
