Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment to assist radiologists and physicians in diagnosing and treating disease and injury.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures
  • Protect patients, self, and other staff from radiation hazards
  • Take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety
  • Select proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis
  • Adjust/set radiographic controls
  • Position patients and take X-rays of specific parts of the patient's body as requested by physicians
  • Develop and process radiological film
  • Check X-rays for clarity of image and retake when needed
  • Distribute X-rays to appropriate medical staff
  • Maintain required records, including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports
  • Perform quantity and quality control checks to ensure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies
  • Comply with safety standards
  • Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment
  • Maintain radiographic supplies, film, and order as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in radiological technology from an accredited X-ray technician program
  • Current state X-Ray Technology certificate or license
  • One to three years of experience as an X-ray technician, preferably in a medical practice environment
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration preferred
Performance Requirements
  • Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor
  • Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures
  • Ability to lift and position patients for the type of X-ray procedure required
  • Ability to notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings
  • Ability to read and write instructions, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees
  • Ability to competently use Microsoft Office
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a radiological unit, exposed to disease, radiation, and toxic chemicals in the course of performing the work.

Mental/Physical Requirements

The candidate must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with an X-Ray Technician, including standing six to eight hours per day, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above the shoulders, twisting, turning, kneeling, and pushing and pulling. Heavy lifting of 75+ lbs. is required to move equipment and transfer patients. Occasional stress may be experienced when working with anxious patients.
