Position Overview

We are in search of an Electrical Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our team at Corbin Consulting Engineers, Inc. This role will involve collaboration with peers and mentors in electrical and controls design, providing a diverse range of experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
At Corbin, we believe that a well-rounded experience is crucial for professional development. Our engineers take on various roles and are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of electrical design. You will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of design tasks. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Creating electrical system designs and developing construction documentation of varying complexities, including power, lighting, distribution systems, and installations for heat trace and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Executing instrumentation and control design, which encompasses selecting appropriate instruments for process systems, maintaining point management databases, developing tagging nomenclature in collaboration with mechanical and chemical engineers, and designing new PLC panels and networking solutions.
  • Designing additional low voltage systems, such as telecommunications, life safety, and security systems.
  • Conducting engineering assessments for power and low voltage systems, analyzing existing conditions, evaluating capacities, and recommending necessary corrections and upgrades.
  • Performing analyses including short circuit and arc flash assessments, coordinating overcurrent protective devices, and reviewing power quality and reliability.
  • Collaborating with engineering team members from various technical disciplines.
  • Engaging in technical writing for engineering documentation.
  • Conducting site investigations to verify and document field conditions.

The construction documents we produce are integral to the process, and you will frequently interact with clients and contractors during the construction and commissioning phases.

Candidate Expectations:
This is a mid-level position intended for candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Possessing a BSEE or equivalent is advantageous, but not mandatory with proven experience.
  • Having an EIT certification or PE registration is a plus, but not required.
