About the Role:

The Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner plays a vital role in safeguarding the health of patients, staff, and visitors at Swope Health Services. As an expert in epidemiology and infection control, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting issues related to infection prevention and control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct annual infection prevention risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern
  • Evaluate and monitor compliance with national standards and regulatory bodies such as TJC, CDC, OSHA, FDA, and HCFA regarding infection control standards
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to prevent infections and promote a safe healthcare environment
  • Investigate and report on infections reported by associates, laboratory, and pharmacy
  • Plan, organize, and deliver educational programs on infection prevention and control to applicable associates

Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure with a Bachelor of Science; Master's in Public Health (MPH) or other healthcare-related field master required
  • At least three years of experience in Infection Prevention and Control preferred
  • Certification as an A-IPC within 6 months of employment unless the applicant already has 2 years of infection control experience
  • Current and ongoing membership and participation in the national Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC)
