Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Greater Odessa Area

Summary for Heavy Equipment Mechanic: This position involves skilled mechanical work in heavy equipment and motor vehicle maintenance, with a focus on construction site machinery such as excavators, dozers, cranes, and skid steers. The mechanic will work under the direct supervision of the Heavy Equipment Supervisor or Light Duty Equipment Supervisor. This role may involve occupational exposure to ionizing radiation, following the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle, staying within regulatory limits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs on vehicles, heavy equipment, motors, and other assigned equipment, including computerized automotive systems commonly found on construction sites and oil and gas sites.
  • Conduct preventative and scheduled maintenance on equipment such as excavators, dozers, cranes, and skid steers, along with other heavy machinery used in construction and oil/gas environments.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle operations, repairs, and maintenance for all equipment.
  • Clean and maintain shop areas, offices, vehicles, heavy equipment, and other machinery as needed.
  • Report any hazards within the shop area to the Supervisor.
  • Apply human performance training to reduce personal errors and assist in preventing errors made by team members.
  • Carry out other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience working with heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, cranes, and skid steers, with work experience on construction sites and oil/gas sites.
  • Proven experience with automotive and/or heavy equipment repairs, including gasoline and diesel engines, pumps, compressors, and other rotating equipment.
  • A solid understanding of preventative maintenance and general repair of heavy equipment and mechanized machinery is preferred.
