Job Overview

Bauer Design Build is a leading provider of commercial construction services, offering a unique blend of design and construction expertise. We are seeking an experienced Construction Engineering Professional to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Bid Support: Reviewing construction documents, creating bid invites, managing subcontractor responses, and maintaining the bid book.
  • Documentation: Assisting the project team with generating meeting agendas and minutes, updating the project schedule, maintaining the submittal log, reviewing submittals for conformance to contract documents, creating RFIs, and accurately documenting project issues.
  • Commitment Management: Maintaining open communication with all parties, working with the project team to recognize underperforming subcontractors, handling conflict in a timely manner, assisting in the preparation of subcontractor commitments, gathering pricing for owner/designer-related change events, and reviewing commitment change order proposals.
  • Communication: Understanding and exceeding client expectations, participating in Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings, communicating with the design team and subcontractors to identify lead times for material purchases, and coordinating local city permit and utility company requirements.
  • Site Assistance: Assisting the project superintendent with enforcing site safety, keeping current on weekly job-site work activities, identifying quality issues in the field, and communicating them accordingly.
Requirements

To perform this role successfully, you should have:

  • Knowledge of Bluebeam or similar software, Procore, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project), and a willingness to learn from others.
  • A four-year degree from an accredited university or college in a related field of construction or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a construction PE.
Work Environment

This role requires sitting for long periods, good communication skills, and the ability to physically maneuver a job site. You will work indoors in an office or sometimes outdoors at a construction site, often exposed to sounds, noise levels, and conditions common to a commercial construction site. Protective equipment may be required when touring a construction site. Regular visits to job sites in a vehicle may also be necessary.
