About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dietary Aide to join our team at Lincoln Community Hospital and Nursing Home.

This is a full-time position working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and operate the dishwasher for each meal service, ensuring thorough cleaning of dinnerware and equipment.
  • Set up tables and trays for each meal, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Clean tables and trays after each meal, adhering to high standards of hygiene and sanitation.
  • Dish desserts and salads properly, paying attention to detail and presentation.
  • Pour juices and fill condiments for each meal, following established procedures.
  • Assist the cook as needed, contributing to a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
  • In the absence of a prep cook, prepare desserts and salads according to menus and recipes, peel and pare vegetables, fruits, etc., for all shifts, and help the morning cook set up the salad bar.
  • Responsible for preparing and serving medical staff trays, special day cookie trays, and surgery trays.
  • Report any broken equipment, needed supplies, accidents, or problems to the supervisor promptly.
  • Mop the dishwashing room floor regularly, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform related assigned duties and special cleaning tasks as required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Be conscientious, trustworthy, tactful, cooperative, and courteous to patients/residents, visitors, and staff in the facility.
  • Be able to assist other dietary employees in handling their job effectively and efficiently, relating it to the total health care of the patient/resident.
  • Be observant and give special attention to details.
  • Follow all dietary policies and procedures for sanitation, fire, and life safety, and nutritional care of the patients/residents in the facility.
Work Environment

You will work in a clean, well-lighted, well-ventilated, safe area, but may experience a warm and humid atmosphere in the dishwashing and food preparation areas. Time may also be spent in patient/resident care areas, requiring sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during the working hours. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and moderate to loud noises. Your work may involve patients/residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc. under all conditions and circumstances. You may be exposed to hostile and emotionally upset patients/residents, family members, etc.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

This role requires you to:

  • Move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • See and hear or use prosthetics that will enable the senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
  • Function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with patients/residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Relate and work with the disabled, ill, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
  • Lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Assist with evacuation of patients/residents.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $40,000 - $50,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
