Job Summary:

The County of Greene Ohio is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Park Ranger to join our team. As a Park Ranger, you will be responsible for working under general supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of park visitors, while also maintaining the natural and cultural resources of the park.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol park areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce park rules and regulations.
  • Provide information and assistance to park visitors, and respond to their inquiries and concerns.
  • Conduct educational programs and activities to promote the conservation and appreciation of park resources.
  • Collaborate with other park staff and external partners to develop and implement park management plans.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the upkeep of park facilities and equipment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of park management, conservation, and recreation principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of law enforcement principles and practices, and ability to enforce park rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to communicate effectively with park visitors and staff.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including walking, hiking, and lifting.
